Train to next cruise in Bordeaux

Oh yeah, I promised you some pics from our last day's special move to see the Eiffel Tower's special lighting at 9pm ..  this was before the 'glittering' :

this was .. after :

It was pretty spectacular .. it stays glittering for .. 5-min.

After breakfast the next morning, 12 of us continuing on to another cruise boarded a coach for the ride to .. Montparnasse Train Station.   It was originally built in 1840 but moved and rebuilt in 1969.   All of the Paris train stations are very busy!  Europe moves by train!   This station has 28 platforms!

We boarded the train and sat back to watch the countryside go by at 298 km/hr.  The Bordeaux-Saint-Jean Railway Station opened in 1898.

Another coach was waiting for us to transport us to our ship, the AmaDolce.

Weather was much better today!  Yay!

The docking location is very much affected by the tides!   You can see the difference between the previous two pictures!  After a light lunch and checking in, we unpacked, organized, and set out to walk part of the town prior to the get-together for staff introductions and the mandatory safety instructions.  Of course .. we found an interesting church to visit!  Eglise Catholique Saint Louis-Des-Chartrons, finished in 1880.

It has some interesting and vibrant stained glass windows from the 1890's :

Bordeaux has a long and varied history starting with Romans in the 1st century.  We'll get to explore more of Bordeaux towards the end of the cruise.

My main course for dinner tonight was :  grilled Atlantic seabass filet, lobster sauce, garden greens, and Parisienne potatoes ..

Thankfully, we had great weather for this transition day!  Tomorrow morning we cruise to Libourne, on the Dordogne River.   We'll take a short coach ride to the postcard worthy town of .. Saint-Emilion.       Take care, Joe & Jan.
